The south-facing slope was an ideal location for the construction of this detached family house. Although an older house had to be removed, the surrounding environment and plant life was left fully intact. A primary objective of the architectural concept was to create an intimate outdoor area hidden from the surrounding neighbourhood.
The living/dining area, the kitchen and the sheltered external area define the three boundaries of the internal courtyard. The outdoor space is protected from the elements by glass sliding doors with an uninterrupted view of the open-air swimming pool. Both levels of the building open onto terraces. This permits a clear view not only of the developed land between the cities of Baar and Zug, but also of the Alps. After heated discussion on the façade design, it was decided that TECU® Oxid would be the perfect material to augment the concrete nucleus. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, copper’s low maintenance requirements and outstanding suitability for the rearventilated timber element filling were decisive considerations.
