Even from a distance the enclosed structure of the production building seems to indicate that something special is being manufactured inside – in this case it is specialized plumbing installations for wellness systems. “The formal expression and material effect of the box itself, with its simple geometric design, provide some clues as to its use. Glittering copper slats encase the two-storey building and deep green glass panes set seamlessly into the façade refer to the primary materials being employed here on a daily basis: copper, the most common plumbing material, and the water contained within it.” (AIX Architects) The copper slats of the façade are moulded into lamellas to be used as glare protection in some places. These slats reflect the dynamic character of the location: one that is awash in heavy traffic from the Autobahn and surrounding roads. The lamellas shimmer in the daylight, and are backlit during the night to reflect the sleek mood of night driving.
