The exemplary environmental sustainability of TECU® brand copper products has been officially confirmed: For these KME products, allowing for aesthetic, distinctive and extremely durable design of façades, roofs and rainwater systems, a validated environmental management standard in compliance with ISO 14025 has been published. TECU® Classic, TECU® Oxid and TECU® Patina, as well as the TECU® Gold und TECU® Bronze alloy surfaces are now entitled to carry the seal of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Umweltverträgliches Bauprodukt e.V. (AUB). The AUB is an initiative of building product manufacturers in collective response to the demand for more sustainability in the building industry and who have independent experts test their products for environmental safety. Core data about each manufacturing process is drawn upon, as well as data about processing, useful life of the product and the recycling process. The AUB environmental product declaration is an important basis for the description of the environmental performance of building materials and products. With the help of the AUB, economical use of resources and significant reductions of emissions into the environment can be achieved as early as the all-deciding planning phase. Designated TECU® brand products were certified as excellent on the basis of an environmental performance evaluation according to DIN ISO 14040 ff in terms of raw materials production, manufacturing, processing, use and recycling. The data shows potential for CO2 emissions, ozone depletion, and the potential for acidification and summer smog is as unlikely as the potential for the product eroding during decades of use on the building. In addition to its other numerous positive features, such as its natural quality, durability, distinctive aesthetic and versatility in product application, the TECU® brand has proven to be a high grade, environmentally sustainable product.
